What is the difference between neodymium magnets and ferrite magnets?
Ferrite magnets:
Low cost
High temperature (80–250 ° C)
Outdoor use
Low aesthetic requirements
Weaker in terms of attraction than neodymium magnetsNeodymium magnets:
High cost
Suffice it to say, low operating temperature, usually (80 ° C)
Very strong
Beautiful coating (more information about neodymium magnets, their composition, production stages, can be found here)
What do the neodymium N35, N38, N42, N48, N52 grades mean? The names N40, N42, N45, N45H, etc. indicate the mass of the high-quality magnetic material used. Two things can be noted here:
a. What volume of "magnetic energy" is stored in this magnetic material.
b. At what temperature can the magnet be used.
2. The numbers (e.g. 40, 42, 45) roughly correspond to the maximum magnetic energy (MGOe).
The letters N, M, H, SH, EH or UH indicate the maximum operating temperature, which can be 80, 100, 120, 150, 180 or 200 °C. Most of our magnets start with the letter ‘N’ and can be used up to 80 °C. For more information, see ‘What is the maximum operating temperature of Super Magnets?’.
When we talk about the ‘strength’ of a magnet in colloquial language, we are talking about the attractive force in direct contact with a metal surface or the attractive force to a piece of iron (or another magnet) at a certain distance.
This strength is determined not only by the magnet material used; The following factors are also very important:
Magnet volume
Magnet shape
Magnet proportions (e.g. the ratio of the diameter to the height of a circular magnet)
Combinations with other materials, e.g. whether the magnet is attached to a piece of metal, in a metal housing, or simply "left alone".
The same is true for use at a certain temperature. A magnet can only be used at the specified maximum temperature if the ratio of the two sides of the magnet is "optimal". When, for example, the magnet is very thin compared to its diameter (or length of the sides), in this case the maximum temperature is reached much faster.
When using 2 magnets of different sizes and magnetism from our range, the strength is usually determined by the difference in volume, not the magnetization. For this reason, larger magnets are usually stronger even when the specified magnetism number is slightly lower. Are magnets brittle?
Yes, magnets are brittle, due to the high force of neodymium magnets, they can break when they collide with each other.
Can I come to the store and purchase magnets on the spot?
Yes, you can come to our store at Gabijos g. 32 Vilnius "G32" office and service center and purchase magnets.
